This week at the winery we're giving our barrels some TLC.
Pictured is Alyssa steaming some of our barrels which we use to age our estate grown Tempranillo. To make sure our barrels have a long lifespan our cellar team has to perform regular maintenance. After wines are done ageing, we wash and steam our barrels to prepare them for their next use. Steaming the barrels helps to kill any microbial organisms that might still be existing and could taint a future wine.
This is an important step of ensuring all of our wines coming out of and into barrel are of the highest possible quality.
