This week in the winery our grapes have started to flower!
This is an exciting and crucial time in the vines life-cycle. The small inflorescences that we've seen grow over the past couple of months have developed to a point of flowering. You won't see any petals, however a small skinny stigma pops out of the grape flower. This is where pollination will take place. Once the grapes are pollinated the flowers and stigmas will fall off and the fruit-set appears underneath. The fruit-set will bulk up over the coming months and the clusters of grapes will begin to form.
We're keeping our fingers crossed for beautiful sunny weather over this crucial time in the vineyard.
