You are in good hands here, with the full ripeness of the rich fruit infused with an abundance of soft tannins and a concentrated bouquet. Easy drinking and well-priced.
Complex and floral, this wine exhibits concentrated dark fruit aromas.
The palate is supple and silky, yet rich and structured with layers of sweet, firm tannins and a long finish.
Our Hawke's Bay vineyards are characterised by moderate temperatures. The main component of this wine was sourced from our inland Kereru Road vineyard at Mangatahi, which consistently produces ripe fruit with small intensely flavoured berries.
Our Kereru Vineyard has a range of soils from silt loam through silty gravels, fine shingle, large stones, clay and even a thin layer of volcanic ash, laid by an ancient eruption of one of the central North Island volcanoes.
The vines are trained to VSP and undergo intensive canopy management and fruit thinning to deliver beautifully ripe fruit.
"The wine remained on lees with regular stirring throughout the winter to build texture and body."
The fruit was harvested and pressed directly into selected french oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, where fermentation occurred using selected yeasts. After 12 months aging, we assembled the blend and prepared for bottling.
Enjoy this wonderfully structured Syrah with slow-cooked beer or lamb stews.
Beef or lamb.
Excellent with your favourite slow-cooked meat.

Generous and forward in its fruit lead bouquet with lots of plum, cherry and mild black berry fruits aromas. The oak is mild to medium with an obvious impact adding spice, a savoury moment and soft pepper notes. On the palate – dry, fresh, fruity and easy on the palate; tannins add texture and bite while the acidity adds fresh and firm elements.
Medium to deep red/purple colour, bright and youthful. Attractive perfume of sandalwood, toasty and spicy, fragrant red fruits and quite sappy. Quite a classy wine, soft and balanced, fine and understated, with delicacy and charm galore. Quite pointed acidity, though. Also has intensity and length. A surprising wine.
