Brimming with concentrated notes of poached pears and melon, with underlying flavours of quince and a touch of ginger.

Our Seaview Vineyard in the Awatere Valley is exposed to some of the toughest growing conditions in Marlborough; high sunshine and wind, cool nights and low rainfall which produces a smaller, thicker skinned berry with intense fruit flavours.
This Pinot Gris is made from two blocks from our Seaview Vineyard - the L6M block, which is relatively flat and coastal and provides a pure mineral quality that is the structural backbone to the palate, and the E6 block, which is located on a sheltered north facing slope and gives us the luscious ripe pear and quince aromas that make this wine so alluring.
The longer hang-time has translated into a wine with great concentration and texture.
We kept the wine on lees for a period of two months, with some stirring to help gain texture and structure. The wine was then blended, stabilised and filtered prior to bottling.
The fruit was crushed, destemmed then pressed gently prior to cold settling for 72 hours. A portion (10%) was racked directly to older French barriques to undergo fermentation. The balance was racked to a small stainless steel tank and fermented separately using a selected yeast. A long cool fermentation followed.

Estate-grown in the Seaview Vineyard, in the Awatere Valley, the 2015 vintage is scented and full-bodied, with lychee, pear, peach and spice flavours, fresh, lively and generous. Made in a dry style (4 grams/litre of residual sugar), it's delicious young.
Full, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, a little lighter on the edge. This has a very fresh and tightly bound nose with good depth and intensity of white and yellow stonefruits entwined with subtle exotic floral elements, unfolding complexing nuances of flint and minerals. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly concentrated with penetrating and vibrant flavours of white and yellow stonefruits interwoven with exotic floral, honeysuckle and mineral elements. Fresh, lacy acidity lends a mouthwatering feel and the wine is guided by a very fine-grained, firm phenolic threaded line leading to a lingering finish of minerals and white stonefruits. This is an elegantly concentrated, vibrant dry Pinot Gris with flavours of white stonefruits and florals with complexing mineral nuances and a fine-textured line. Serve with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the L6M and E6 blocks cool-fermented in stainless-steel with 10% in seasoned French oak barriques to 13.0% alc. and 3.9 g/L RS, the wine aged 2 months on lees.
